PHL COVID-19 Fund Awards $50K to Drueding Center

The PHL COVID-19 Fund has awarded a $50,000 grant to Drueding Center, a Holy Redeemer LifeCare community in North Philadelphia that provides transitional housing and services for families experiencing homelessness and case management to families in the community who have moved into permanent housing.

“We applied for the grant money because almost all of the families in the residential program have lost jobs due to the pandemic. Additionally, many of the individuals we serve in the community have also lost jobs or are coping with reduced hours. Now we’ll be able to provide these families with Acme or ShopRite gift certificates in amounts ranging from $150-$300 a month for two months so they can purchase what they need the most,” says Anne Marie Collins, Executive Director of Drueding Center.

The PHL COVID-19 Fund represents a partnership between the Philadelphia Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. It was established to provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations that serve constituents who have been impacted by the pandemic.

“We are grateful to have received this grant. Our families are the most vulnerable in society and these funds are critical to helping them meet their basic needs,” says Anne Marie.
